About QT Sense

QT Sense is a spin-off from the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). We are developing Quantum Nuova™, a breakthrough quantum sensing platform that uses fluorescent nanodiamonds to measure oxidative stress inside living cells. This technology has the potential to change disease diagnostics, drug discovery, and personalised medicine.

What You'll Do
  • Support research into EU regulations and standards relevant to our technology, such as CE marking and data protection, under guidance from the regulatory team.
  • Help draft and maintain internal documents, including compliance checklists, guidelines, and short policy notes, as part of ongoing regulatory work.
  • Assist with preparing and organising documentation for risk assessments and technical files, with a focus on structure and clarity.
  • Contribute to reviewing and drafting basic agreements under supervision, such as NDAs and collaboration agreements.
  • Translate technical or scientific input into clear, structured legal or policy language, with feedback and mentoring.
  • Support internal notes on topics such as data protection, ethical use of technology, and liability, linked to your academic background.
  • Work closely with the regulatory officer, management, and R&D team on small, well-defined projects suitable for an academic internship.
  • Participate in meetings where legal, technical, and scientific considerationscome together, and help prepare short summaries or reflections when needed.

The internship is supervised by the Regulatory Affairs Officer and the Hardware Engineer, ensuring close guidance at both regulatory and technical levels.

What we’re looking for
  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s programme in law, science and technology policy, health law, public policy, or a related field.
  • Interest in the interaction between technology, health, and regulation.
  • Able to read and interpret regulatory requirements across different layers, from EU directives to applicable technical standards.
  • Comfortable working with technical or scientific information at a conceptual level, and willing to ask questions when needed.
  • Structured way of working and attention to detail.
  • Excellent comprehension and communication in English.

Desirable

  • A prior background or coursework in natural sciences is an advantage.
Academic requirements

This internship will be aligned with your university’s thesis or internship report requirements. The exact topic and learning objectives will be defined together with the student and the university supervisor.

Possible thesis or internship report topics focus on practical regulatory questions around laboratory technologies, such as risk documentation, labelling and user instructions, translation of laboratory workflows into compliance documentation, or preparatory steps toward future regulated use.
